March 19, 2025 (Peoria, AZ) — Desert Dreams F.C., the new Women’s Premier Soccer League expansion team based in the West Valley, has announced Alan Berrios as the club’s inaugural head coach. Berrios, who is currently the head coach of Northern Arizona University’s women’s soccer team, will continue in that role while also taking on his new responsibilities with Desert Dreams F.C.
Since becoming head coach at N.A.U. in 2022, Berrios has made history by leading the team to both the regular season and conference tournament championships in his first season, making him the only coach in N.A.U. soccer history to achieve this feat. The Lumberjacks went on to compete in the national tournament, where they were eliminated by the eventual national champions, U.C.L.A.
Berrios also led Southeastern University in Florida to the same double—winning both the regular season and tournament championships. With over 25 years of coaching experience at both the NCAA and NAIA levels, as well as significant success at the club level early in his career, Berrios brings a wealth of knowledge to the role. His strong local connections are further demonstrated by his previous experience as the head men’s and women’s soccer coach at Arizona Christian University.

Open Player Tryout – Sat., April 12th
As previously announced, Desert Dreams F.C. is seeking to include top women’s soccer players locally in its inaugural season roster. Specifically, the team announced today it will be holding an open tryout on Saturday, April 12th at Peoria Sports Complex’s main stadium field (currently serving as the Cactus League home for both the San Diego Padres & Seattle Mariners).

Inaugural Season Kicking Off in May
Desert Dreams F.C. kicks off this summer at Peoria Sports Complex following the Cactus League season when the stadium field will transition into a soccer configuration. The match schedule is expected to be announced by the League in late March with the season starting in May.
